Education Programs

Bright Future School serves students from primary education to high school

PART 1 OF EDUCATION: NURSERY SECTION – 3 YEARS

The 1st class in the nursery section is Baby Class. These are children aged 3–4 years.

The 2nd class is Middle Class. These are children aged 4–5 years.

The 3rd class is Top Class. These are children aged 5–6 years.

PART 2 OF EDUCATION: PRIMARY SECTION – 7 YEARS

After Top Class, a child begins Primary One at around 7 years old.

They move on to Primary Two at 8 years old, then Primary Three at 9 years, Primary Four at 10 years, and Primary Five at 11 years.

At 12 years, the child enters Primary Six, where he or she is called a “sub-candidate,” as they are preparing to join a candidate class.

At 13 years, the child enters Primary Seven and is now called a candidate because he or she is ready to be assessed by UNEB through final exams. If the student passes, they are eligible to join secondary school, where they will be referred to as a student. At this level, UNEB marks the exams, not the school.

PART 3 OF EDUCATION: SECONDARY SCHOOL / “O” LEVEL – 4 YEARS

The student starts Senior One at 14 years old. The term “pupil” ends at Primary Seven—from here onward, they are called students.

They move to Senior Two at 15 years, Senior Three at 16 years (where they are considered a sub-candidate), and then to Senior Four at 17 years, where they become candidates again, preparing for UNEB exams.

If they pass, they may join High School/“A” Level or a certificate course at a college. The student receives a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), awarded by UNEB.

PART 4 OF EDUCATION: HIGH SCHOOL / “A” LEVEL OR CERTIFICATE COURSE – 2 YEARS

Students begin Senior Five at around 18 years old, based on their Senior Four results.

At 19 years, they begin Senior Six and are again referred to as candidates, as they are preparing to take their final UNEB exams. These exams determine their qualifications and university eligibility.

Successful students receive the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE).

PART 5 OF EDUCATION: UNIVERSITY DEGREE (3 YEARS) / DIPLOMA OR COLLEGE (2 YEARS)

At around 20 years old, students may join university for a degree (3 years) or a diploma (2 years), depending on their A-Level results and available resources.

Alternatively, students may join a college for a diploma, which also takes 2 years.

PART 6 OF EDUCATION: GRADUATION AND NEW BEGINNINGS

The student graduates after completing their course.

They are then qualified to seek employment based on their field of study.

The foundation offers support where possible, helping the student transition into independent life.
